I read in a child development book once that the transition from baby to child (aka the toddler years) is really our first adolescence, with developmental tasks and challenges similar to those typically associated with the teen years.
I experienced a bit of that yesterday.
Charlotte's cousins Allie and Hannah were visiting. The girls were all set up at a table coloring, and I came over to watch for a bit.
"Simmee," said Charlotte (excuse me). She pushed my leg. "Bye, mama. Leave."
